Between 1941 and 1949, tens of thousands of children were born in France with a German soldier as father, or in Germany with a French POW or forced worker. These children were born as enemies. What is the history of the fathers, the mothers and their children ? Since the German invasion until now, what was the life of the so called « Enfants de boches ». First, to highlight the demographic challenge between France and Germany, then to understand why these children were forgotten in the French-German reconciliation process. To track their personal history and all difficulties they had to support. Their destiny is a part of the War History. It’s also a life between rejection and secrecy, a long way for searching the origins, and sometimes discovered its, decades after the conflict ended.
Entre 1941 et 1949, des dizaines de milliers d’enfants sont nés en France de père allemand, ou en Allemagne de père français. Des enfants nés ennemis. Quelle est l’histoire de ces pères, de ces mères et de leurs enfants ? Depuis l’invasion allemande jusqu’à aujourd’hui il s’agit de suivre le parcours de ceux que l’on appelait les « enfants de boches ». D’abord pour souligner l’enjeu démographique qu’il représentèrent pendant la guerre, puis pour comprendre la place qu’il n’occupèrent pas dans la réconciliation franco-allemande et les difficultés de leur histoire personnelle. Une histoire qui est celle de la guerre, mais aussi de la filiation entre rejet et secret et la quête des origines encore des décennies après la fin du conflit.
